Site and Background
This this partnership with ‘Asociación Civil Impacta Salud y Educación’ (“Impacta”), Peru’s largest HIV care-providing NGO, has a long history of NIH-funded clinical research activities. Impacta played a major role in the recent iPrEx study that showed the efficacy of PrEP. IMPACTA is led by physician-scientists, highly distinguished in their field. During the past decade, IMPACTA researchers have become leaders in infectious disease and vaccine research.  All of the staff is fully trained in GCP and HSP and aware of US NIH/NIAID/Division of AIDS and local health policies and regulations. SOP’s are in place and fully describe the entire administrative, clinical, laboratory, data management and recruitment and retention operations.

The IMPACTA Clinical Trials Unit  evaluates HIV vaccine candidates,  new prevention strategies and seeks to optimize antiretroviral treatment and new tuberculosis treatment strategies.
