Project Title: Spreading the word for child health and immunization in Bangladesh
Dr. Lily Horng is currently a postdoctoral fellow in infectious disease and medicine at Stanford University.
Children of recent migrants into urban Dhaka slums have lower immunization rates and higher mortality from infectious diseases due to delays in seeking appropriate medical care. Her project involved conducting formative qualitative research and developing a low-cost intervention to motivate residentially stable mothers to share life-saving information about nearby child health and immunization centers with mothers who were new to the community.
She had also worked on hand and respiratory hygiene in schools and hospitals, helping to develop an effective low-cost technology plus behavioral intervention. The hospital component will also worked specifically on HIV transmission and with HIV patients.
